The Dallas Cowboys finally have some new blood on the roster….sorta.
Adam Schefter released on Twitter today that the Dallas Cowboys plan to sign former Detroit Lion and Jacksonville Jaguar LB Justin Durant. The former 2nd round pick had reportedly visited Valley Ranch yesterday and passed a team physical.
The news does come with some hesitation. The Cowboys can't officially sign Durant until the team clears up more cap space, likely to be done by extending either QB Tony Romo or DE Anthony Spencer.
Durant fills a need at strong side LB for the Cowboys. He and weak side LB Bruce Carter automatically form one of the most athletic tandems at OLB in the league, with budding star Sean Lee holding down the middle. Durant excelled against the run in Detroit, logging a +6.0 PFF rating on running plays, good for 8th best in the league. After signing coveted RB Reggie Bush, Detroit ran out of money for Durant.
No word from the coaching staff or the front office yet. We will keep you as up to date as possible here at Cowboys 101. Stay tuned!
