NFL’s best QB? National writer’s crystal ball says it could be Dak Prescott in the near future – SportsDay

After a historic rookie campaign in which he took the sports world by storm, can Dak Prescott become even better going forward? One NFL writer from a panel of ESPN experts says he’ll “go out on a limb” and say Prescott could be the best signal caller in the NFL in the future.

But senior writer Mike Sando went off on his own by choosing Cowboys QB Dak Prescott.

“I’ll go out on a limb and say it could be Dak Prescott,” Sando said. “It’s too early to anoint him but not too early to think about the possibilities based on his impressive rookie season.”

The Prescott nod wasn’t the only big prediction on the list involving the Cowboys offense. NFL insider Dan Graziano also pegged Dallas as the team who will have the most sustained success on offense over the next five seasons.

“Why not Dallas? No one has a stronger combination of great young offensive line, mega-stud running back and ultrapromising young quarterback,” said Graziano.

But the Cowboys also don’t have a security blanket such as Romo waiting in the wings. This team is going to go as far as Prescott can take them.

The Cowboys’ strength starts up front, where left tackle Tyron Smith and center Kyle [sic] Frederick lead one of the NFL’s most revered offensive lines, and it extends to their young playmakers. Dak Prescott finished last season with the best passer rating for a rookie in NFL history, while another first-year player, Ezekiel Elliott, led the league in rushing.

A few areas of concern exist on Dallas’ defense, though. The Cowboys struggled to pressure quarterbacks last year and lost a few key defensive backs this offseason, without tabbing top-notch replacements.
